Catchin' Up
It was a great week aboard USCGC NORTHLAND. With UNITAS complete the operations tempo decreased significantly. Earlier in the week the crew had the opportunity to relax and take in the ocean air with steel beach and fish call followed by a flight deck double feature movie provided by ET1 Medalis. SN Heinlein also came very close to landing his first fish, but the large marlin got away as it neared the boat. The week continued with the crew catching up on drills and scenarios. One of the drills consisted of a gunnery exercise. Rounds flew and the barrel was sunk, great shooting by SN Heinlein, SN Duffin, SN Jones, and SN Slape.
Excitement is stirring about the decks for the upcoming Line Crossing Ceremony. Lowly pollywogs will be converted into Shellbacks after crossing the line. Oh Honorable Shellback Hartlove along with other Shellbacks and Davey Jones planned some great events for the crew to partake in. Check back next week for updates on the crew of CGC NORTHLAND, doing the nations business in distant waters.
Congratulations to ENS Pomranky and ENS Saldivar on your qualifications!!!!!!!!!
