Catchin' Up
CGC NORTHLAND is still in route to the UNITAS patrol in the South Atlantic. The crew has been staying busy with various trainings and drills in preparation for the multinational exercises. This week the operations department played a game of jeopardy testing their knowledge on tactical commands for the upcoming UNITAS exercise. The Electronics Division was under the gun, but pulled off a wonderful job in repairing the ship’s navigation system. The deck department launched the cutters small boats multiple times in order to log some hours on the boats and practice maneuvers and get the newly reported members qualified as boat crewmen. Law enforcement training was also conducted to re-certify and refresh the boarding team members on board the cutter in law enforcement tactics and procedures. The executive officer, LCDR Spolidoro, conducted Coast Guard Ethics training for the entire crew. The anticipation to reach our destination is high on the transit through the South Atlantic. Everyone is eager to reach water less traveled and see the sights and sounds South America has to offer. Visit next week for an update of CGC NORTHLAND.
