Catchin' Up

The Adventure Starts

On March 31, 2008 CGC NORTHLAND departed ISC Portsmouth, VA after a 3 month dockside period to affect repairs. NORTHLAND’s crew ran like a well oiled machine during the outbound transit. All hands performed superbly during the departure from ISC Portsmouth; the Commanding Officer stated, “It was as if the crew had only been inport for a few days.” NORTHLAND is currently in transit for a UNITAS patrol, a multinational exercise off the coast of South America. This is a great opportunity for NORTHLAND as well as the U.S. Coast Guard to participate with various countries from around the world.

Onboard NORTHLAND this week the crew was busy with routine drills to ensure that all hands are familiar with their duties in the case of an emergency. It was also a time for the newly reported members to learn their responsibilities. NORTHLAND also promoted two members of its crew, MKC Paglia and MK2 Moore, Congratulations. Congratulations also goes out to GM3 Rios, ET2 Newsome, and YN1 Pata, who were awarded the Good Conduct medal. Check back next week for updates of CGC NORTHLAND.
