Routine Deployment - Week 5

We join the crew of the Cutter Northland underway on a Routine Deployment in the Atlantic.

Catchin' Up

This week was an exciting week for the crew of NORTHLAND. The holiday season is upon us and many activities were prepared to make being away from family and friends a little easier. The first activity of the week was pizza night hosted by the Engineering Department. It was a pizza mad house in the galley. The engineers impressed everyone with their rendition of a spicy ham and pineapple mixture. Great job engineers, it was delectable.

The week continued on with Sundaes on Sundays followed by YN3 Murrell’s Bingo Night. YN3 dished out the numbers while BM2 Montejano racked up the wins. Later in the week during SN Heinlein’s charter fish call, FN Stiehl and MK1 Calhoun reeled in a couple of nice fish including a gorgeous Mahi Mahi Tuna and the world’s fastest fish, a Wahoo. The anglers were nice enough to share their catch with the crew and the food service division made Fish Friday amazing.

To wrap up the week, the White Elephant game was played. It consists of an unknown gift exchange. It was a great time for everyone involved and also spread the holiday spirit throughout the ship in anticipation for our mid-patrol break. The mid-patrol break was packed with sun and relaxation. The crew had the opportunity to recharge the batteries. Now that the batteries are recharged NORTHLAND continues to patrol distant waters.
