The Adventure Starts

On November 26th, NORTHLAND departed Portsmouth, VA for a routine deployment on the high seas. This patrol will also be used to conduct some intense training in anticipation for NORTHLAND’s upcoming Tailored Annual Cutter Training (TACT) in Little Creek, VA.

After months of preparation and training NORTHLAND made a short, yet, eventful (6-11 ft. seas) transit. Although some of the crew had not acquired their sea legs everyone onboard was eager to head to our area of operation. After a brief stop NORTHLAND continued on patrol for the sunny skies and warmth provided by mother nature on distant waters.

The wardroom hosted the weekly pizza night for morale. As can be expected the young Ensign’s, ENS Delgado and ENS Clark led the charge from the scullery, providing clean pots and pans for the pizza frenzy ensuing in the galley. An interesting combination of assorted of toppings made for an eventful night.

After only one week underway, this patrol is shaping up to be full of excitement, only adding to the adventure. The crew is excited to fulfill our mission and do the nation’s business. Check back next week for updates on the NORTHLAND adventure.
