Catchin' Up
Week 7 for NORTHLAND started off great, as we pulled into the port of Willemstad, Curacao early the morning of the 28th. The port call was a new one for many people onboard and everyone found something fun to do. There were several great restaurants with a variety of food for the crew to sample as well as various shops and vendors along the streets. The small island had numerous gorgeous beaches, many just a short taxi ride away from our pier. The crew quickly scattered throughout the island, enjoying all Curacao had to offer.
Although Curacao was great, after a few days of rest, relaxation and the opportunity to call home, we were ready to get underway again for the last stretch of our patrol. Hoping to find one last go-fast, we set off mid-week and headed back to the Caribbean. The remainder of the week was pretty uneventful; NORTHLAND spent the time conducting training and preparing for our return to homeport.
This is the last patrol for approximately a third of the crew, so everyone is excited about Week 8—either their last week u/w on the NORTHLAND or at least the last for this patrol!
Congratulations to crew members who got qualified this week:
MK2 Post got Underway Throttleman qualified!
FN Caroway got Underway Security Watchstander qualified!
DC1 Sullivan got Underway Engineer of the Watch (EOW) qualified!
