Catchin' Up
Week 2 for NORTHLAND began with a little bit of morale. The wardroom volunteered to cook for the weekly pizza night for the crew. It was great fun not only cooking up the meal, but serving and eating it as well! The members of the crew who dared to try the crazy combinations the officer’s came up with were pleasantly surprised. For the most part, everything was delicious!
We continued our week with patrolling the Caribbean, taking all sorts of detours and different routes looking for drug runners. We launched the helicopter several times, both for regular patrols of the area as well as for training for the crew and the pilots. It was a pretty busy week for all as we balanced our normal training with flying the helicopter and keeping a sharp lookout for go-fasts.
The week went by quickly and soon, NORTHLAND will be pulling into San Juan, Puerto Rico for a port visit. It will be a great opportunity to catch up on sleep, get out and have some fun and, for some; see friends and family!

MK3 Moore got underway throttleman qualified!

ENS Fawcett and BM2 Veverka got Landing Signals Officer qualified!
SN Hatchell, SN Hoffman, SK3 Fullmore and SN Diaz got Helicopter tie down qualified!
And ENS Hitzel and ENS Fawcett got underway OOD qualified!
