Catchin' Up
Every unit in the Coast Guard is a training platform for the next unit. As such, NORTHLAND is charged with preparing the Guardians of tomorrow's Coast Guard while conducting the mission today. Even in the early hours of the morning, NORTHLANDers spent time preparing to conduct the missions. Such mission execution requires the help of all hands at any time; in many ways, the job requires members of the crew to be like Doctors on call. When information is passed to all hands that NORTHLAND needs to conduct her missions, the crew responds accordingly. Because NORTHLAND is a multi-mission platform, the missions executed from day to day can vary. This week the crew was able to exercise the law enforcement mission, which was a great switch from the rest the patrol where mission-focus was heavier elsewhere.
In between conducting the missions at sea, this dynamic crew likes to have fun. Whether it be joking around in the engine room after eating grilled steaks or catching fish during fish call, smiling is the underlying theme. We would like to share one of many awesome sunsets that we have been able to see this patrol, perhaps one of the best parts of being at sea.
