Catchin' Up
Week 7 onboard MOHAWK was quite bumpy after departing Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Bad storms and heavy seas kept activity to a minimum. Fortunately we found our way out of the bad weather and into calm seas long enough to have swim call later in the week. We had a hard week of drills, endless flight quarters and chasing phantom go-fast vessels, not to mention the large populations of dolphin!
On Saturday, several of the First Class Petty Officers volunteered to cook an “Around the World” dinner for the crew. They put in some long hours preparing the wide variety of dishes and the crew appreciated their hard work.
MOHAWK had several visitors on Sunday when a pod of Pilot Whales took station off our bow while we were all stopped. With the calm seas, it was a great photo opportunity. Later on in the day we conducted swim call and crewmembers showed off their fancy diving skills, and some not so fancy falls.
The crew is looking forward to being back in Key West soon!
