Catchin' Up

The weeks go by fast when there is a port call coming! The crew enjoyed a brief stop in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba which was the last port call of the patrol before our arrival back in Key West. The past week held more training opportunities for the crew and several morale events.

On Wednesday night, available crewmembers gathered on the messdeck to participate in one of MOHAWK’s most coveted events, BINGO! After it was all said and done, some lucky players walked away with ipods and movie tickets.

On Sunday, our aviation detachment provided familiarization rides for twenty lucky crewmembers. LT McWilliams, LTjg ST.Germain and AMT2 Bray shuttled the selected crew through ten rides, each about ten minutes long. The crew appreciated the opportunity to ride shotgun in the cockpit.

The weather the past few days has been quite damp. However, that didn’t stop the crew from having a good time once our port visit rolled around on Monday and Tuesday, many crewmembers took advantage of the amenities such as the exchange and McDonalds while in Guantanamo Bay.

Thanks for following our progress thus far!

Congratulations

  • Congratulations to SN Garmon for your advancement to E-3!
  • Bravo Zulu to EM3 Diggs for being nominated as Sailor of the Quarter!
