Welcome Aboard The CGC Bear

Week Three

by Brendan McPherson and Andrew Shinn

Week Three. After nearly two weeks crossing the Atlantic, Bear arrived in Cartagena, Spain for her first port visit of this historic 90-day deployment. While in Cartagena, a small maritime enclave built upon ancient Roman ruins, once ruled by the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Moors, and the Vandals, the crew took in the sights, did a little shopping and visited nearby beaches. Early Wednesday morning, Bear slipped her lines and proceeded deep into the Mediterranean as she continued on her mission of Theatre Security Cooperation and international engagement. The coming week promises to bring new adventures and thrilling sights as Bear returns to one country she last visited in 1999.
