About Tim Dring:
First, and this is amazing, Tim isn't even a Coastie - Tim is a retired U.S. Navy Reservist and a pharmaceutical scientist for the past 20 plus years. Although I think you'll all agree that Tim's dedication certainly proves that he has a lot of Coast Guard Blue running in his veins and deserves our respect for the efforts he is sharing with us.
Tim has gathered, researched and produced a Summary of Wooden Motor Lifeboat Types of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Stations to which they were assigned.
Tim has a facination with the different types of USCG rescue craft (especially the MLBs) and a profound respect for the USCG and its humanitarian SAR mission.
For the past 5 years or so, Tim has been assisting Mr. Bill Wilkinson, a retired maritime museum director and USLSS/USCG boat history consultant to the CG Historian, with the completion of a technical design history book about all the surfboats and lifeboats that have ever been used in the USLSS and USCG. He's also been assisting the CG Historian as well as individual CG stations and preservation/historical groups with various projects or issues as they relate to the older types of boats.
Tim wishes to credit all the valuable help he received from Coasties that have responded to his various Reunion Hall and Bulletin Board postings.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tim at TDring@PRDUS.JNJ.COM as he continues to welcome any Coastie's input.
