Rate or Rank: Because we have, or the possibility of having,
several John Smiths we use your Rate of Rank as a simple identifer. If I was looking for an old
shipmate that was a BM3 when I knew him (or her) and I see a BM1 with the same name then it is
probably the person I'm looking for. Whereas if I see a MK3 with that name I'll know it's not who I'm looking for.
Enlisted. Please use your Rate and Rating, i.e., BM3 or
MKCM NOT E4 or E9.
CWOs. I request Chief Warrant Officers to include their speciality along
with their Rank, i.e., CWO2(ENG) or CWO4(BOSN), This provides yet another 'identifier' to
assist your old shipmates to find you.
Officers. Please use, ENS, LTJG, LT, etc NOT O1E or O2E.

Status: We have nine categories for Status:
Active - Presently serving on Active Duty.
Reserve - Presently serving in the Reserves.
Retired - Retired from the military service.
Auxiliary - Presently serving in the CG Auxiliary.
Civilian - Past or present CG civilian employee.
Vetran - Served in the military.
SPAR - Female members of the CG SPARs.
Spouse - The 'significant other' of a member (past or present) of the USCG.
Friend - A friend of the Coast Guard.

Separated: Enter the year you were separated or
retired from the military. Only Veterans, Retired and Civilian should provide
this information.

Present Unit or City: Active Duty may enter their
unit. All others may enter the city they reside in. The purpose of this block is to allow
searches for someone located on a specific unit or located in an area or city.
Some people want to list their previous units in this block. Please
do not! We have the Reunion Hall for that purpose.
