Here is a collection of WEB sites and
other sources to assist you in finding someone.
Using Fred's Place.
First, look for your old shipmates on our Email Directory. Found someone? Good. In order to email an individual, you must
be a registered member and after you've signed in you can look up your shipmate on the Email Directory
and click on the email icon next to their name.
OK, can't find them on the Directory? Try posting a bulletin on our Bulletin Board. Many old shipmates have been
"found" by someone posting a bulletin. Oh, you must be a registered member to post on the Bulletin Board.
Don't forget the largest online "military databse", on Military.com's Buddy Finder.

Locating a CG Retiree. Many times retirees try to contact
friends or acquaintances who are Coast Guard retirees. Because of the
Privacy Act, HRSIC cannot provide home addresses or phone numbers of
these persons. There is however, a service HRSIC can provide that might
help you.
If you want to contact a retiree:
Write a letter to the retiree. Place this letter inside a sealed, stamped
envelope. Write the retiree's name on the envelope. Write your
return address in the upper left corner of the envelope.
Enclose this envelope inside another envelope addressed
to:
Commanding Officer (RAS)
Coast Guard Human Resources Service & Information Center
444 SE Quincy St.
Topeka, KS 66683-3591
Upon receipt from you, HRSIC will research their files, add
the retiree's address, and forward your correspondence to the
retiree.
Please include a telephone number in your request so HRSIC may
contact you in the event there is more than one retiree by the name
of the individual you are trying to locate.
Have a name, city and state? You can search most of
the following sites with name only, but the results
will be large. I would suggest using these sites with at
least name, city and state.
Switchboard.
This site request name, city and state and returns with street
address, ZIP code and phone number.
To find someone who has an active HAM Radio License try
QRZ HAM Callsign
Database. You can search by call sign or name. It returns
address, ZIP code, Date of Birth, and e-mail address.
Once you have "found" someone,
Yahoo will give you a map to the individuals address. This
site request street address, city, state and ZIP.
There are other "locators" out there, but I have little or
no confidence in them. They require registration or fees
for use. Such locators are
Bigfoot, IFA,
and WhoWhere?.
I hope you find these sites useful and you "find" that person
you are looking for.
If you find any other internet resource that you think would
be useful. Please e-mail me the information.
