USCGC JASMINE WAGL-
September 14, 1955

The Coast Guard Cutter JASMINE hoists a temporary buoy marker from the water of Louisiana's Rigolets after building a permanent light. The New Orleans-based 91-foot buoy tender maintains and services minor aids to navigation on inland waterways in Southeastern Louisiana. (USCG)
The JASMINE is now decommissioned.

Built by the Great Lakes Engineering Works in River Rouge, MI and commissioned in August 1933. She was decommissioned on October 9, 1964 and sold on May 20 1965 to the government of Surinam.
Length 81'2", Beam 21', Draft 9', Displ 160 tons, Propulsion 1 Winton 235 BHP diesel with single prop, Max speed 10 kt with cruising speed of 7.1 kts, Range 1027 miles, Deck gear 5.0 ton capacity boom and electric winch, Compliment 10.
She served her entrie career servicing aids to navigation on the Detroit and St Clair River.

Both these photos were taken by EN2 Stephen F. Robinson while servicing weather buoy EB-03 in the Gulf of Alaska, 180 miles South of Kodiak Island. The buoy is anchored in 16,000 feet of water! A rare calm day for these waters.
