Returning from patrol to Biddeford Pool ME. Mr Ward apologized for the quality of the photo but remembers dropping the camera and it was not loading right. NO apologizes necessary as it is just nice to have the chance to preserve old photos like these.

NEW YORK HARBOR
C 1944

A small, thirty-foot, water-jet propelled fireboat called "The Pollywog" is the principal pier fighter used by the Coast Guard in keeping the harbor of New York free from wartime disaster. A fleet of these potent little boats is maintained by the Coast Guard Port Security Force.
They throw 3000 gallons of water a minute and have a crew of five men. The Coast Guard, responsible for port security in the United States, operates the world's largest fireboat fleet. No major disaster has occured to impede victory shipping since the Coast Guard took over Port Security. (USN)

These were hard to catalog into the proper category. They are neither a vessel or aircraft but rather something in between. These photos were taken in San Francisco Bay where the USCG was running trials for a few years. The ACV's were assigned to Fort Point Lifeboat Station.
