Coast Guard Models

The following was built by Steve Wheeler out of Redwood.  She is scratch built and 1/92 scale.  Beautiful job.
According to Jack the Roger B. Taney images are "a 1/96 solid hull that I made from the remnants of a Model Shipways kit someone "willed" me about 30 years ago. Amazing that I packed that hull around through 30 years of ACTDU before doing anything with it. Started with the (solid) hull from the kit and scratch-built the rest."

The following models were built by Jack Eppert  who adds: Except for some simple modifications I made they are straight out of the boxes.  They might help others get enough courage to purchase a kit and give it a try.  Here's a link to the Dumas site but it looks like the 40 boat has been discontinued. http://www.dumasestore.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=136_49

The 40 footer was modified from the kit with larger windows and to reflect the as operated condition in 1970 at USCG Base Gloucester City NJ.  It was my boat when I was there.

The 41 footer was modified from the kit to as operated conditions in 1995 with different engine compartment vents.  My son was the engineer on her at Cape May NJ.

Jack graciously has included his email address in case anyone would like to talk him about the details of building this model:  jlebpe@verizon.net
