Participate in an Oral History Project.. Robert Markuske, a Park Ranger at Governors Island National Monument, is looking for people to talk to and participate in a Oral History Project.

Robert is seeking service members and/or dependents for a particular event in the fall of 1988. President Reagan and Soviet Leader Gorbachev meet on the island on December 7th 1988. Their last meeting before Reagan left office.

Anyone there that day; either intimately involved or just having a normal day and wishing to participate in this project, contact Robert Markuske directly at Robert_Markuske@nps.gov.



Digitization of the Reservist Magazine. We know how important the "Reservist" is to all of our readers but, in today's budget climate and with available technology, the magazine will move to an all digital publication. The next two issues scheduled for released in calendar year 2011 will be in both formats, paper and digital. Starting in January 2012, the Reservist magazine will be totally digital and available at http://www.uscg.mil/reservist/. Our goal is to continue to provide an award winning magazine that is enjoyed by all of our members. Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Seventh District. Coast Guard Foundation has announced that its Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Seventh District will take place on Monday, October 24, 2011 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The event honors the valiant work of the men and women of the Coast Guard’s Seventh District. Awards will be presented to recognize exceptional and heroic performances of duty. In addition to celebrating the service of all our guardians who enforce maritime law, protect our homeland and preserve the environment, the tribute will raise funds to support the Coast Guard Foundation’s important projects and programs that seek to improve the lives and performance of Coast Guard members, their families and Coast Guard Academy cadets, through college scholarships for children, as well as grants for enlisted members. Chincoteague, Va. The 2011 Guardsmen of Yesteryears Breakfast will be held on Sat. Nov.12th, at the Chincoteague High School located at 4586 Main Street. Chincoteague, Va. Doors open at 7am , breakfast will be served at 8. Cost per ticket is $6.
